Public Safety

I believe that our community needs to be safe. I will ensure that our police and fire department needs are funded adequately. Our police and fire department are some of the best in the nation and I will ensure they continue that standard. El Cajon Heartland Fire Department is an ISO Class 1 Department which only 1% of Fire Departments in the nation achieve.

Homeless

Addressing homelessness is complicated. Complicated scenarios require thoughtful solutions and strong community partnerships. The government cannot provide the solution independently. I will work to continue supporting local non-profits that provide job opportunities, housing, mental health and drug rehab services to the homeless in El Cajon. When non-profits, businesses, the government and residents work together, we find solutions. Under my leadership, the city funded $5,000 to keep the East County Homeless Task Force running.

Financial Stability

Government should work within its means like we do as citizens. I believe that our tax dollars should be spent efficiently. I will continue to work to ensure that our city is able to pay its bills on time, without running up our city credit card and placing debt on the backs of our citizens. I am committed to maintaining a healthy savings account for the next recession because our community deserves someone who will treat our tax dollars with the respect they do their own. Under my leadership we have maintained a $40 million dollar reserve to ensure vital services are not cut.
